Home of el corte since June 1994. Eric has bought the building in October 1997. From that moment it has been a permanent construction site until summer 2002.

AUCTION HALL
It was built as a car workshop in 1919. During the years of WWII it had been transformed into the auction hall of Nijmegen.

PREPARATION
when el corte moved in, the building looked quiet different from today. Converting it into a tango home started by putting in a wooden sprung dance floor and demolishing walls.

THE MAKING OF...
After acquiring the venue, the 'real' job could start. By stripping the building the possibilities emerged. The wiring, plumbing and heating system were redone. Fire safety was updated.

The first mezzanine was constructed: over the sofas and office. The tangogogo balcony was built. So were the footbath, shower and toilet area. Next Eduard changed the dressing room into a quality boudoir.

DANCE HALL: In 1999 a neighbor started complaining about the music. A reconstruction of the big dance hall in 2001 became the solution: An insulated back wall was being built. The newly constructed double sprung dance floor was bigger and disconnected too: the pride of el corte! An orchestra balcony was created over the new DJ corner by Luc. The sound system was renewed and so were the lights & ventilation

FRONT SPACE: In 2002 the mezzanine was expanded and got a new spiral staircase and bridge to enter. The wardrobe became an innovative steel construction. The kitchen and office were revamped.

THE ROOF: In 2004 paradise was created. This space is for private use and special occasions only.

THE BACK: Since 2005 Henry and Eric own the "railway side" of the building. This were the original offices of the auction hall. This part will eventually be converted to an elderly home for tango dancers.

THE APPARTMENT ABOVE THE ENTRANCE: was bought in 2007. From August of that year the whole original auction building is now owned by el corte. Because of this the following could take place:

THE DORMITORY & DOUBLE ROOM were constructed by Luc in 2008 as well as a new toilet section downstairs.
